Check if the Overdrive setting is turned on (Settings > About device > Power management > Power management mode > Overdrive).

I haven't had any problems with fw 2.4.19 on my A101, and USB is still working (so far...)

My A101 doesn't have the problem either (AVIs with DivX+MP3).

Not specifically UK channels, but you might want to check this out.

Anyway it's typical of Archos to quickly drop firmware updates for existing models each time a new one comes out. Too bad, but that's their marketing strategy.
