Replacement battery

My Archos 5 Android's battery is swelling, and the battery life is terrible (1 hour of video). This thing just pasted the warranty period, so I must manually replace the battery. Would a Gen 6 Archos 5 replacement battery work on the Gen 7 Archos 5 Android? If not, where is a place where I can find ...

Re: can archos g9 firmware work on g8?

Don't expect it to work. Honeycomb cannot run on 256MB of RAM. G8 just isn't fast enough to run Honeycomb at all, and if it can, it won't run well. Even if the hardware is the same, Archos will not allow it to work. Look at the G8 firmware and G7. The 43 and 32 has the exact same hardware as the A5A...

Re: Thought Turbo versions were 1.5 Ghz!!!!

well I am done.. this is the first post i've made, but I have been keeping up with the Gen. 9 tablets for a few months now, watching all the questions everyone has had and the way archos has danced around them.. I have my hopes up that Archos would have fixed their problems they had with the gen8 t...

Older firmware and missing apps from Android market?

I just properly installed 2.0.45 (no multiboot) on my Archos 5, and I'm not getting the full Android market. I'm missing key apps such as Angry Birds and Google maps and lots of various apps I used to be able to find on market but not anymore. Is there a link to an older firmware such as 2.0.38 that...

Re: Issues with just purchased Archos 48 Tablet

Don't let the Archos's battery drop below 5%. There is a stupid bug that won't let the battery charge beyond 5% when the battery is below 5%. You must plug in the USB, then turn the Archos completely off, then it'll charge normally. You can turn it back on in 10 minutes after the battery has been ch...

Re: Question concerning Subtitle and H.264 support.

Hmm, it seems that the fan subbing community is discussing the impending transition to encoding in 10-bit h.264 [current is 8-bit] also known as High 4:2:2 Profile or Hi10P. So actual question: Will the G9 support Hi10P playback? That can't be true. There is too much compatibility issue with 10 bit...

Re: Hi, I am Craig from ARCHOS

Not only that, they are seriously destroying consumer and investor trust by doing this. Remember in the earliest G9 spec leak Archos said "ALL tablets targeted at 1.6GHz"? Didn't Archos say it will be priced at $299 for the base model? This is competition destroying specs. This is what consumers (an...

Re: Processor and Pricing from Archos.com

If that's true, BAD MOVE Archos! 1.5GHz is what is going to bring you the sales and differentiate Archos from every single tablet out there, not 1GHz. I really hope that's a typo, because if this is true, this is really bad for Archos. They seem to do everything right this generation, don't screw up...

Re: Sound card

What you are experiencing is absolutely abnormal. You shouldn't be able to hear such a large difference (in fact, you shouldn't hear a difference at all) with skullcandy earphones, especially on an iPod, which isn't a very good sounding device itself. Have you tried with EQ? Maybe the EQ on your 101...

Test Result: Archos 5 video playback limits

I know this has been long overdue, but it is better late than never! I'm sorry about this delay as I finally got some time to stress this little player out! Little background info: This test will only be about the Archos 5 IT's H.264 playback capabilities, as it is the most demanding and most popula...

Re: Omap 4460 hd video capabilities

Here are 3 test files that'll determine the capability of the video decoding power of the OMAP4460. This video (scene from Avatar), cut from an actual 11GB Blu-ray encode from the internet, represents the most challenging blu ray rips you'll see. It is 10mbps at 1920x1080 (16:9), not 1920x800 (2:35:...

Re: 5.5 to 6 INCHES...

Do note that Android 3.1 is for tablets only. The OS is designed for a 7-10'' tablet. It is not suitable for a 5'' screen. I think Archos is being smart and holding off the small 5'' tablets till Ice Cream Sandwich is released, which is an OS for both tablets and phones.

Re: Storage?

The app space wasn't due to FroYo, it was just the amount Archos set as the /data partition. Hopefully they allocate 1GB (or more) for the /data in Gen9. I'm not sure if this applies to Gen 8, but on the Gen 7, isn't the app storage limit because of the amount of flash storage the device has for th...

Re: Archos 43 or gen 9 5inch

If people would simply go for a slim bezel, they would get the best of both worlds. You can get a large screen in your pocket if you keep the bezel slim. It is ridiculous to have these huge picture frames just because people think they need some place to rest their thumbs. All bezels should be so s...

Archos 5 won't sleep due to unwanted alarms

I recently found I cannot make my device go to sleep. With some investigation, I found that a deep sleep will make my 5 go to sleep. This means an alarm is making my 5 wake up. When I went to the alarms section of system monitor, I see that there are multiple entries. The alarm that I think is causi...
