I believe Archos makes crappy products

Lets see, 4 posts in the last 7 days. Archos Fans Forum dying much!

Archos announces a product, they over promise and under deliver.
They drop support for devices quickly-there have not been any firmware updates for this series of devices in a year.
There is no reason to come to this section of the forum, there is nothing going on.

There have been very few new posts lately. Have prospective Archos customers finally read enough posts from Archos device owners about inferior quality and performance issues that they are moving on?

Archos uses 3rd tier Chinese manufacturers to produce their products which results in crappy devices.

A number of U.S. based retailers are selling the 2013 Nexus 7 (a much better tablet) for only $ 179 and also throw in a $ 20 gift card ...

When will Archos update any of their tablets to Android 4.4?

They announced in back in early October that their newest 101 xs will have Android 4.2. Has the tablet even been released yet?

Achos is a lousy technology company.

No HDD in Gen10 and you can't expect much from GPS technology, especially not indoors, GPS needs 3G-modem assist to be more reliable.

My Nexus 7's (wifi only, no 3G) GPS locks in quickly and flawlessly every time I use it.

Give it time software updates will come thick and fast I am sure performance and battery will get better over time as the software matures.

Being mindful of Archos's spotty track record regarding trouble free firmware updates, I wonder what tablet or Gamepad features might be crippled or broken ...

It appears that you are one of the lucky few who can use the 4.0.26 f.w. without constant issues.

As a current Archos tablet owner it pains me to say this but you are better off getting a $199 nexus 7 tablet, if you want to use a workable version of Google Now; instead of having to wait 18 ...

Just because some companies use their customers as guinea pigs to test for possible firmware fixes does not make it right.

That's basically a quality control policy of throwing crap at the walls to see if it sticks, as a way of solving problems.

Does anyone know how the firmware for the Nexus 7 or Nexus 10 compares with the Archos firmware for Gen 9 tablets?
