Would you recommend a Titanium, or something else?

My Archos 70 Internet Tablet met an unfortunate end in a washing machine recently , so I'm now in the market for a new Internet Tablet. It was recommended that I check out the Titanium as an option. Below I'll describe what I used my 70 for, and with that information factored in I'd like to hear opinions on what systems (ex:Titanium) I should consider.

When I first got my Archos Internet Tablet I took it with me to many places I went. However I now own a Samsung Stratosphere phone that runs Android, so my Archos Internet Tablet had spent a lot more time at home than it used to do. Therefore I'd primarily use the new system at home, and would consider multiple sizes such as 7, 8, and 10 inch tablets this time around. I used the previous tablet for Internet website browsing, reading manga & doujin online, gaming, and watching videos (some that I've burned to my computer from old VHS tapes, and some of which I stream from the Internet) including some subtitled Anime videos.

Features I liked in the 70:
multi-touch screen (capacitive as opposed to resistive)

Things I wasn't fond of with the 70:
Internet connection was often dropped. Don't know if that was related to the version of Android OS installed on the system, or the network card built into the system (this never happens with my phone).
Even though I had a 32gb sd card installed in the system it wouldn't let me put applications on it. Those were limited to the built in system RAM and built in storage (was either 6 or 8 gb - can't recall which). As a result I often received not enough space messages when trying to update or install applications, and I also received could not install on USB or SD card errors when attempting to update or install applications. (Occasionally I was able to correct the update error by connecting to a computer and deleting a hidden temp file, but it repeatedly came back).

I would appreciate any recommendation or suggestions.

My first impression was of terrible battery consumption, less than a day with little use. However this seems to be a known Jellybean issue and the solution was to turn off all the Google syncs.

Generally I'm happy with it, very responsive, but it has a major flaw in my view, no USB charging. That means that when I'm travelling, I cannot plug in a USB battery pack as I did with my old tablet thereby extending the time for watching movies etc.

The response from Archos was abysmal. Twice I complained on their web site asking why this facility was not provided and twice they emailed back simply stating that it was not supported on this model.

Go to Settings / Accounts / Google, click on the account and untick the syncs you don't need.

Prior to doing this, the battery usage was showing a lot of battery use by these.

I'd stay away from the Titanium series. Build quality is appalling. I've bought the 101 and had to have it replaced as the Mic didn't work. Replaced version's mic also doesn't work, and the bevel around the screen isn't fitted correctly so the light bleeds off screen through the sides at parts. Speakers are also poor with low tinny sound.

I have a Titanium 101 and I would reccomend you to get something else.

My opinion is that Archos = junk

Disappointed Archos 70it and 80 G9 tablet owner,
but very happy nexus 7 owner

Titanium 80 doesn't have appaling build quality in my opinion. The buttons are plastic but they work fine.
My only frustration is the short cable from the charger and that it doesn't load by usb.
Else quality/price ratio is excellent and I like the 4:3 screen

It is like an ipad -same type screen even iplayer works but only through firefox (app is crap), my niece has ipad 3 which is a cold device aesthetically. Tit 101 also has hd 720p resolution.

I got my Titanium 101 about 2 weeks ago. I like all of the exrta ports, no wifi issues, decent build quality, very good screen viewing angles. Negatives are, no Bluetooth and can't charge through usb connection. For $200 I like it so far.

As a fairly happy G9 user (mostly use the player for gapless FLAC playback and video during my commute) I'm going to give the G10 a whirl and see how it performs. Curious if video codec support in practice is as good as it has been in previous models. No reason to suspect otherwise, so hoping for the best. Good news, a generous 60-day return policy at Best Buy here in the US (for RZ premier silver members, so lots of testing time). . . will report back after I receive the player this week.

I download a lot of tv programs. I tried to play one and got the message: format not supported. I got a free app from the Google playstore called Archos Video All Codecs. I replayed the same video and it worked. As I said earlier the viewing angles on this tablet are very good.
