Re: flat flex for archos 101 g9

I believe is was a packardbell. It was the ribbon connection the keyboard to the mainboard.
On aliexpress you should check for the correct pitch and an acceptable length. The amount of leads is not important as long as you have at least 6, the rest you can cut off. The disadvantage is that you'll ...

Re: flat flex for archos 101 g9

I got mine from an old laptop. A bit too long, but with some folding that got solved.
You can find new ones one sites like aliexpress.com, or specialised electronic component shops ( Farnell, RS,...).

Re: Anyone tried resoldering the power/USB port?

Usually this problem can be traced back to a cracked flexible flat cable. I had to fix mine as well. An explanation on how to do it is given somewhere on the forum. It's not that hard to do, but you need to find the right cable. I found a replacement cable in an old laptop, but it's also sold online ...

Re: External HD and teh G9 80

I'm using an un-powered external HD on the full size (3G) USB connection without any problem.
Remember to switch on the 3G.

Re: Official 4.0.26 released - report bugs

A few more bugs I noted after using it for a longer period:
- when re-connecting the 3g after I connected an other device (HD) I need to have a wifi connection before I can get my 3G running again.
- in case a mouse is connected to the micro-USB, and then external power or headphones get connected ...

Re: Firmware 4.0.25 Live - Report Bugs!

The .26 is definitely in improvement for me. The device does feel snappier (even though I don't know if it's actually the case), and is very stable. I didn't have a crash since I installed the new firmware 1.5 days ago. Unfortunately, the 3G is still behaving strange. To evade possible hardware ...

Re: Firmware 4.0.25 Live - Report Bugs!

I solved the media center issue by installing rocket player, didn't have issues with that one yet.
My 3G is still not working, and I assured myself it's not a hardware issue (external HD works, 3G works on laptop). At least on 4.0.7 it sometimes worked (still not how it was supposed to work, but at ...

Re: Firmware 4.0.25 Live - Report Bugs!

I tried a small USB flash disk on that port and it is not detected either. Anyone has problem with 3G port after upgrade ? I just want to make sure it is a HW port failure before sending it back [/quote]

I also have those issues, but already had them with the previous firmware. For the check with ...

Re: Firmware 4.0.25 Live - Report Bugs!

I've been running it since last night on an Archos 80, 1,5Ghz, 1Gb RAM, 250Gb HD. Installation was flawless. I honestly don't see any major improvements, but it also didn't get worse:
- 3G stick still has difficulties to be detected.
- No (significant) improvement in GPS reception.
- Music Centre ...

Re: [HELP] 3g stick not activating

I have a similar behaviour on my 80 G9 (250gb, 1.5ghz, 1Gb Ram). In my case it "helps" to connect an other usb device to the other available USB port. The device will then recognise the 3g stick again, or at least for a while. The other USB device can be disconnected as soon as the 3g stick is ...

Re: LIVE! - Firmware Update (4.0.7) - Report Bugs

I have a Archos 80 G9, 1,5ghz, 250gb, 1gb RAM, and I have issues with the full-size SUB connector and my 3G key:
When connecting the 3G dongle, nothing happens.

I do manage to get an external HD working by using the full-size USB, but most of the time I have to kind of wake it up. Meaning: connect ...

It's normal. Somewhere on this forum it was mentioned this was done to be able to pull out the 3G stick a bit for better connectivity.

Re: HDD problem?

I have the same issue. "Luckily" I'm sending mine back for the disconnected -USB issue. I have the impression the HD problem is a software thing since it's systematic. Any time I try to access bigger amounts of data at once (or rebooting), it stops working. Accessing small amounts of data on the ...
