Very helpful & thorough review. I just wish it had a kickstand and a 16 gb option.

What system does it have? I prefer the older ones, not ICS. Does the GPS work?

Re: My New 4GB Turbo - Yuuuuuuup!

I am so jealous! I bought an Archos 80 from Tiger for $125 but it was only 1 Ghz, though advertised as 1.2. It has 3.2.8 and works beautifully, and has only one not noticeable scuff. I use it constantly to play music and videos, look at photographs, and go online. One of my favorite apps is Tubex 1....

Re: Archos 80 G9 1Ghz User Reviews

to czesiu: Basically the french review of the viewing angles says the angles of vision are good from side to side, but not from below. So there is no contradiction in the quote. Here is my translation: "The Archos touch pad has a multitouch pad of 8 inches diagonally. . . . The screen offers wide an...

Re: 10 Months On & still working brilliantly with NO problem

I bought mine in early February, hardware revision 6, and I have never had any problems with it at all. If I notice it getting the slightest bit balky, I reboot and recalibrate the screen, and it perks right up. It worked fine with the original firmware, except that you had to reboot after turning o...

Re: Firmware 2.4.19 released - report bugs here

I have 70 apps but I experienced no problem in updating the firmware from within settings-- I did not sideload, or reformatt or reinstall anything. I have a chess app that is just called "Chess" and it still works perfectly. (Someone said their chess app had stopped working with 2.4.19 ) It has reve...

Re: Firmware 2.4.19 released - report bugs here

Wow! 2.4.19 is amazingly fast on my Archos 70 8 gb. The icons on the home screen pop up instantaneously and the home screen pages just fly by. The multimedia library update is really zippy, no more crawling along forever, and my 2000 photos show up in the Gallery speedily--which used to take many mi...

Printing from Archos 70

I just printed successfully from my Archos 70 to my HP Deskjet 460 using an app called Print, which costs $4.95. I got it from the Market. It only prints photos, camera shots, web pages, and contacts. It allows you to select multiple photos and multiple contacts to print together. There is a Print T...

Re: Why I love the 70 more.

You do not need wifi to use Google Maps. You need wifi to download the map to the device originally but then you use it like a paper map, which does not need wifi. Unlike a paper map, you can pinch to zoom in and out and you can scroll it as you go. It does not know where you are. I downloaded the m...

Re: Why I love the 70 more.

One nice thing about the Archos and Dolphin Browser is that you can set the Dolphin to show the desk top version of internet sites, not those stupid mobile versions that I get on my iphone. It is impossible to day trade using mobile versions of sites such as fidelity, Yahoo, etc. as they eliminate m...

Re: Why I love the 70 more.

For day trading, I use 3 tabs open simultaneously: 1) my fidelity trading screen for entering trades and tracking orders, 2) bigcharts.com or freestockcharts.com for charting and 3) a third tab for moving among various other sites, including realmoney.com for Helen Meisler's briliant charting calls ...

Re: Why I love the 70 more.

I am so enjoying the 70 8gb. The SDcard is great and now I find that the Dane-Elec 8 GB flash drive works like a charm straight out of the box. You just attach the flash drive to the Archos via the little adapter cable and the Dane-Elec's red light starts to glow and the Archos notification screen t...

Re: Bought my wife an iPad - here are my thoughts

I think if you want true productivity -- doing word processing & working on spread sheets and presentations, etc, --you would probably want the ipad, although I am curious what people have to say about that. I do not need this. I just wanted a media player, photo display, Pandora radio & music, and ...

Re: Anyone else feeling pretty good about the A70?

I am thrilled with my Archos 70 8gb. I was so worried about setting it up and updating the firmware, which turned out to be easy thanks to Kenyu and the Digital Digest video on youtube. and this wonderful forum. I am completely new to Android, and in the two weeks I have had it, I have had no proble...

8 gb, USA - I love it and it was easy to set up

I just got it two days ago and I used the instructions from the Archos forum and the youtube setup tutorial from Digital Digest. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDbDr_4iYqc The only glitch was the wifi which did not turn on. I had read on this forum that the first thing to try was to reboot the Archo...
