My a70it has been working fine, but now all of a sudden I turned on my unit and the SD card is not mounted. i think i must disagree with most here.

i personally think ebook is the archos weak point with the 101 worse than the 70 (have had both and returned the 101).

The main reason for me is the viewing angle. This is especially if you use it in portrait which I think is what most ebooks assume you are ...

didnt realized this board was for the sole purpose of archos to troubleshoot their software/hardware. If so, they should pay us, lol.

Found something annoying that I hope can be fixed. When you Power Off the device, then go plug it in to recharge it, the device powers up and reboots again. I don't know of any other device that does it. Power OFF means Power OFF. Plugging it in to recharge shouldn't power it back on.

None of the android tablets support ad hoc networking out of the box, but some tablets can be hacked to overcome this. The gen8 archos currently cannot unless it is rooted and even then it is not straightforward.

Try bluetooth tethering, it works quite well with archos gen8.

I think you are missing the point. It's not that most people are complaining about the quality or features for the price of Archos products. We're not comparing the products to those from Nokia, Samsung, etc. It's how the company handles its customers is what angers most of us and we feel ...

Wow!. It perfectly fits Archos 70!. Its only drawback is the elastic band ...

will these player take advantage of the hardware decoding? in other words will they play 720p mkv without stuttering? That's the real question, since the stock player plays pretty much everything else except 720 mkv with ac3 multichannel audio.

thanks for the tip but i dont think its a glare issue since this happened in the dark. It is also is not so much ebooks but rather looking at a pdf magazine in portrait. When there are dark areas in the page, it has this off angle look unless a perfect left to right (in portrait) angle is achieved ...

ok, just came across a mkv file with 5.1 ac3 that wont play.

ironically, an mkv with DTS will play. Isn't there licensing cost to DTS as well?

If this is truely a licensing issue then no files with ac3 should play at all.

Also, if another player that's free like vplayer can decode the mkv file ...
