First time in a few years of looking on here and hardly any posts... Where did it all go wrong for Archos or are they still a contender?

Updated the firmware on my 70 250 gb last night. Was watching a video this morning and it started to play in slow motion. Was able to stop it and return to home page. Went for a reboot but unit will not switch off. Has been trying now for about 20 minutes to switch off.

When the AV500 came out I had a total of 3 of them because of various faults then gave up on it, I'm now on my third Archos 5 because of stuck pixels, Fat32 errors and still video and voice sync issues but I have never had to return any of my Apple products! Thats up to you, I know for a fact that if i paid $50's or $400's I would expect whatever I had bought to still look new after only a couple of weeks/months. If i damaged it myself then thats my fault but if anything else was wrong with it then thats down to manafacture.

2 weeks with 250gb version purchased from qvc and the unit is starting to discolour/tarnish in various places around the screen. I've been using a tuff-luv case from the beginning. Will give it another week or so and see how it goes.

The do-it-yourself "Cling Wrap" shield is done!

1. Final wipe with the Archos cloth on front and back to remove any trace of fingerprints.

The trick is to put the battery onto the player and then pull back towards the outer casing to click it in securely, I have used my battery a good few times on long haul and have had no problems of it exploding yet

Must admit im liking the look of the ipod touch on the tv ad's. Has anybody had any experience of using ones and if so what are the games like?

If its like the other archos units you need to click on options when the player is docked and in record mode and I think it says something like screen options, click on that and your see bitrates towards the bottom of the options
