Archos 504 HDD replacement

Hi,

sorry, but could not find any good information in this forum how to solve my problem with Archos 504

1. HDD defect - managed to get a new Hitachi 80G
2. replaced the HDD
- now following message appears: HDD recovery (USB or Format Disk)
-- USB -- reply "done" - Archos reboots and again HDD recovery (USB or Format Disk) appears
-- Format Disk -- formatting -- setting up media -- setting up operation system --- done and again HDD recovery (USB or Format Disk) appears

I am able to connect via USB to my PC - A504 appears and Folder "System" containing id.sys

How can get the A504 up and running again?

It looks like 1.6.53 was the last 504 firmware. Downloaded and copied over to the root of the Archos HDD

- now in HDD recovery: update file exist. Updating, but again ending up on the same screen after reboot ( HDD recovery (USB or Format Disk) )
- Connected again via USB and
-- approx 10 language files (I guess) been copied in to HDD/System i.e. lang_cs.alz etc.

Still saerching for help!!

You should buy Western Digital HDD and change the serial number. Then it will start to work again
