Hard drive or Battery problem

I've had my Archos 605 160gb for like 5 years +, just started having problems with it recently. I'm not sure if it is a hard drive or a battery problem.

Happens like this, I plug in the usb cord and start to transfer a file. The screen starts flickering and then it stops working. I then try to start it back up and it goes to the Archos logo for a few seconds and it flickers and goes to black. Doesn't do this all the time. The machine charges up, the battery is on 50%. Can't figure out the issue.

Sounds like your battery needs replacing. My 605 lasted 2 years. It would start up to the Archos logo then shut down. New battery fixed mine.
