Audio - Video Players ....

I've downloaded several Audio - Video players, but they are glitching ....

What would you recommend for Audio - Video Players that you have to pay for? I don't mind buying one, but I want to get something that is Reliable and High Quality ....

Any suggestions .....

These Video Players do NOT work on my Archos 80 G9 tablet:

1) Meridian Player
2) MoboPlayer
3) mVideoPlayer
4) RockPlayer Lite
5) Showtime - Player Panel
6) vPlayer
7) Zimly Video

Only these two Video Players work, but the videos are Glitching ....

The inbuilt video player is normally the best one for most occasions - not sure why its glitching for you unless there is an issue with the source files (or recent firmware shenanigans). You can also try MXplayer for free which also plays most stuff.

Additionally I have been trying out BSplayer recently and think I will purchase this one as it is the only one i've found so far that will play .mt2s 720p files generated by my Panasonic camera.

For music I quite like Poweramp and ended up purchasing this after trialling the free version.

Thanks! Got PowerAmp and MX Player. PowerAmp plays my videos, but can't watch the video.

MX Player is playing my videos just fine.

Now to try my MP3 music files ....

For video I use Archos Video.
The times that I do not, I use BSPlayer.

I would recommend to anyone who has not yet installed Archos plugins, or the Archos video app is not working properly.

What is the Codec Pack?

When you register the device you also get to download the free video plugin pack from archos website (customer account/manage products/and then product services which can be reached by clicking on your g9 device that should be showing as registered).

There is also a paid version of the plugin called 'cinema' (which I always get as well) which allows you to play aac encoded files.

If you have not registered the device and applied the subsequent free plugin pack download I recommend you do this first.

The optional extra Cinema codec pack (or plug-in) will allow the Archos Video and/or Audio players to play MPEG-2 video and AC3 audio encoded files (along with a couple of others that the stock players can not handle). Just as a side note, when using DVD ripping software on your computer to do a direct copy it will normally end up with a bunch of .vob files (need to make sure the ripping software strips out the DRM Digital Rights Management and encryption in the process)...

Anyway, DVD .vob files are MPEG-2 for video and usually use AC3 for the audio.

As for the Registration stuff... if your device is not registered you will not be able to get any kind of warranty or repair service from Archos is something fails on your device. Even if your device is not registered I think you might still be able to get the Cinema plug-in if you want it, but I'm not totally sure about that.

Unless your device was used or repaired before you got it then there really should be little trouble to get it registered if you enter all of the required information correctly. Before I go into further details though...

Can you first go into Settings, then scroll all the way down and tap on About.

Then, on the right side of the screen tell me exactly what it says in the line right under Plug-ins ?

It might also be useful if you could tell me exactly what it says in the section just below that for Firmware ?

I'll try to remember to come back to this after you provide that information.

It seems rather fishy to me that someone could have been hanging around here for over 2 years and NOT know how to register an Archos product and also NOT know about the Cinema Plug-in.

Who's yanking my chain here!? I mean come on now REALLY? I never owned an Archos device until near the beginning of this year and even I had it registered, had bought, downloaded, and installed the Cinema Plug-in all in the first 2 days. For my 2nd Archos device I did the same in less the 6 hours, and for my 3rd I had it all done in less than 2 hours (and that's including firmware and app upgrades also).

I'm willing to help where I can, but come on now, after 2 years someone still doesn't know how to do these basic things. Sounds awfully fishy to me!

Registering a product was for him not so easy. He was maybe new with this device, and the system thith not response correctly. This says nothing about the Expertise of this person.

The Cinema plug-in was maybe total not interesting for him. Maybe he use his tablet for other interesting things.

I should not even have to explain myself to you ....... but ..... for your information I am NOT a tech ...... I am. 55 years old ..... a nd I just got this tablet, which is very different than what I'm used to ...


And more ..... I have many health problems, some serious, like serious memory problems .....

Thank you for your more helpful response!!! I had never even heard of the Cinema Plug-ins, but that doesn't mean that I'm an idiot, stupid, retarded, or a Troll, as I have wrongly been accused before, simply because of my ignorance.

I actually use my tablet mostly for Reading and Studying. I do check my Facebook and Archos Forums. Also listen to music, Internet Radio, and watch movies sometimes.

I keep getting the same Error Message:

"Invalid Serial Number"

I'm on the phone with Archos Tech Support again. They checked their computer and have no record of my tablet ... !!! So, it looks like somebody forgot to enter my product into their computer data base!!!

I tried many times directly from the tablet, and also from the website. Tech Support walked me through, even though I already knew how to do it. Still received the same Error Mesage:

I just started using the Media Center because of all the extras (subtitles, fan-art, show info) I read about here. Generated and downloaded the freepack...aos file. Wasn't asked to connect the USB cable again, but installing went OK.

Was using other players because of the lack of support for some codecs in Archos Video, so I hope that's fixed now.
