Erasing personal data from Archos 101 G9 with broken screen.

Hi,

I have broken the screen on my Archos 101 G9

I would like to sell it as scrap but cannot as I am worried if I have any personal data on it.


I can connect it via HDMI to my TV and see the start screen in normal mode. But when I try it in white screen mode (by holding down vol+) there is no HDMI output, so I cannot see it on the big screen, making the format impossible.


Any ideas?

in the repair and formatting section of the settings, try Full reinitialisation.

You don't need white screen mode. Boot the tablet with hdmi connected, and run the Settings app. Scroll the list on the left until you can see the Repair and formatting item. Select it, then select the option for full reinitialisation.

OK this has failed because the screen only has a keyboard option. I assume it is because it is password protected?

I do not know the password.

UPDATE

I have managed to reformat in white screen mode by copying the click sequence on a working archos tablet.
