This topic has probably been covered already somewhere, but i got this specific USB adapter, as i want to attach a flash drive to it, as well as my Archos 3G stick
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0027YYMU6/re ... _product
However, this does not seem to be working for me. When i plug in the Archos 3G stick for example, the stick lights up, but i just cant get an internet connection. The flash drive just does nothing. Am i suppose to have something else, along with the above adapter to get it to work..
Ive had to go this route, as my USB port at the back doesnt want to recognise the 3G stick anymore.
Ive rebooted a few times already, but nothing, so would i assume that the above adapter is the wrong one?
Thank You
Micro USB Adapter
Re: Micro USB Adapter
just need somebody to advise, if that is the correct or incorrect adapter. if it is, then im guessing that it might be hardware issues which is preventing me from connecting any external devices?
i dont have any issues with the micro usb port when i charge the device.

I managed to get the device to detect the 3G stick Via the micro USB port, and also have the signal bar appearing. However the stick is just flashing a green light, and thus no solid light which gives me an internet connection.
Note that data is enabled, and wifi is off. The stick works fine in my PC, so its deffinately not a stick issue. Also the sim has been inserted properly, so its not that either.
Re: Micro USB Adapter
Could be that the micro USB port cannot drive the 3G stick because of current limitations. I believe USB ports generally supply around 500mA current, where as in the case of Archos micro USB I doubt it has that capacity. I say this because my WD 1TB USB hard disk works well on PC, not here. If I use a flash disk, it works okay.. Just a thought !Isgakbrfc wrote:Hi Sjcsjc wrote:Wrong thing you need one of these

Re: Micro USB Adapter
If the signal bar appears on the notification and it says 3g stick connected then the 3g stick is powered.
You need to check in the 3g stick settings under APN that the correct Apn is selected for your network
The 3g stick provides a list of Apns relating to your sim card its usually the first one
Then in the settings under networks either select connect automatically or select the network you are using
You will have to wait a minute or so while it searches for networks then the list of networks will appear
Also I think there is a check box for data enable make sure that this is ticked.

Re: Micro USB Adapter
Thanks Sjc, managed to get it to connect. I still can't get the back USB port to work, so I'm guessing its broken. So the micro USB port will have to do for me.
