So I sold my Archos 43 PDA to my grandparents who have a few uses for it (ironically none of which really are taking advantage of the advantages it has like its sound quality, lol.) Before I gave it to them I wanted to reset everything to a clean slate. I accidentally wiped out the partition with the UrukDroid files though and had to reinstall it completely. So now I'm running into an unpleasant situation. A huge number of apps that actually worked before are now showing up with the text "this app is not compatible with your device" in the Google Play market. For instance, I was using the Zeam Launcher due to its benefits (lighter memory footprint, more screens, etc) and wanted to use it again (ironically I wanted to use it to set fewer screens rather than more since they have far fewer apps that they use) but suddenly it's not compatible? The Netflix app also suddenly shows up as not compatible when I know I was using it before. Even the calculator I was using suddenly decides it's not compatible!
So I found out that I was having the same problem as others with the Youtube app not actually installing for whatever reason. When I originally set it up, I think it was before Arctools even (the old gAppsInstaller I think) and since then things had been updating on their own so I didn't use Arctools until I reinstalled everything this time around. I manually installed the Youtube app after finding it via a file search (though it seems ES File Explorer didn't bother to tell me where the files were and I forgot to check since I was pretty tired by that time) and after getting Youtube working I found out that suddenly the Netflix app is now listed as being compatible. This makes me wonder: could other things perhaps not properly installed by ArcTools just like that also be at fault here? Perhaps if the appropriate things were installed more things would start working? But if so, what else would I need to install to fix this? It's especially being a problem that a lot of the apps they wanted are being listed as being incompatible (and didn't the Play Store just simply not return results for anything that was incompatible? This makes me wonder if they are, much like the Netflix app, just showing up as incompatible due to missing a basic dependency) when most if not all of them shouldn't require things like multi-touch that the Archos 43 isn't actually capable of...

When you encounter apps from Play that were compatible but aren't now it means that there has been a new version and the new version is incompatible (which is also why there wasn't an update notification on your device). Unfortunately the old versions are not kept available in Play but you might be able to find them by searching the www.
If the apps were free software (free as in freedom, not price) then there is a good chance that you can find them in the F-Droid Repository which is a great "market" for free software for Android and has the advantage that it keeps old versions available and also allows you to install versions which are not guaranteed compatible (after warning you). You could also check out the SlideMe app store which offers both free and paid proprietary apps and free(dom) software apps.

They were all free. I just find it odd because it used to not list anything that wasn't compatible at all which made me wonder if it listing them but saying incompatible now might just mean something like a missing dependency. After all, Netflix "wasn't compatible" until after I manually installed the Youtube app, then suddenly it was compatible again. A few things like that calculator really shouldn't be showing up as incompatible (after all, the calculator is pretty simplistic) which especially makes me think of the possibility of some simple dependency.
Oh, and it must show updates for apps that later become incompatible because the stupid Barcode app was driving me absolutely nuts. It used to be compatible and suddenly started requiring multitouch or something, so Google Play kept trying to update it only to declare that it was not installed every single time. It was really beginning to get on my nerves since it would try to do it every time I hit "update all."
Anyway, I like the idea of app repositories, but I'm not seeing some stuff like the Zeam Launcher on either of those two. I'll admit though, when I ran a search on it and found the original thread I see an older version on there (and can't help but to note that it says in the changelog that they've updated multi-touch functionality in the next version.
