Keyboard won't appear

Hey guys, I just got my archos 28 and I like it so far, my only issue is the keyboard. It appears for 1 second allowing me to type one letter then it closes itself. I've tried holding the menu key to force it to open and it remains closed. Anyone know a solution? I'd really appreciate the help :(
