I'm in Alaska... so I'm betting mine will take a bit of time to show up. Things usually take a little longer to make their way out here.
Re: Whos the first!!
My money would have been on Roy since he is a UKer and right in Europe.
However since ours will be shipped out of the US I'm thinking it might be me. It will depend on the way it is shipped. If they use regular USPS mail I might be the last. Richmond VA mail service has been on the news repeatedly for its poor service. I regularly get mailed coupons long after they have expired. It got to the point where there was almost a revolt by angry people. Only after it made national headlines did they start to change.
It may be real after all.

Re: Whos the first!!
Looks like it might be me. They shipped it UPS and the US Postal Service so it came quicker.
I was wanting an 80 but got a 10 Turbo with 16gb. I am just opening it now. Unfortunately I will not have much time to do anything with it till the weekend but I'll see if I can fiddle with it at work.
My wife was pretty excited that I might be getting one. She has her eyes on the Samsung 7.7 but she might claim this instead. We'll see if it fits in her purse.
The rest of you should be getting a delivery soon. Although it looks like Alaska is getting bombed with so much snow Harf's might not get there till spring.

Re: Whos the first!!
Great news Kodiak! If you got yours, then hopefully mine will be here soon.
We are getting pretty beat up by snow up here, but it hasn't seemed to slow down the mail yet. If I'm lucky it will show up tomorrow.
I already picked up some accessories for it, so now I'm just waiting on the device getting here.
The following are the things I bought for it.
http://www.amazon.com/Skinomi-TechSkin- ... im_sbs_e_4
http://www.amazon.com/Archos-Tablet-Rob ... 231&sr=1-1
http://www.amazon.com/Tuff-Luv-Tri-Axis ... 260&sr=1-7

Re: Whos the first!!
When you get the unit and the Tuff Luv case let me know how the two work together. That looks like a nice case.
I haven't done much with the 10 yet but I did do a couple of things in set up. So far the unit is extremely responsive. I hope I get the chance to fiddle with it at work.
PS - One thing I looked for was the voltage input to charge the battery. To my surprise it said 5V. I'll have to run some tests with my Tekkeon 4AA battery pack to see it that will assist the battery during video playback. This was an outstanding feature of my 605. The Tekkeon 4AA USB batt pack acted like a battery dock for extended playtime.

Re: Whos the first!!
I need to dig in and find out exactly what the processor is. It is the 10.1 Turbo 16gb as this is all over the packaging. However I do not see the processor power listed anywhere.
I just went through the initial setup and that was a snap. It is very responsive and I connected to the router over wifi without an issue. I did try to go to YouTube and it played some vids and not others. I did load a Divx avi movie on it and it played that without any problem. I skipped around forward and backward and it always stayed in sync. I recorded it with a bitrate that gave me a 1 gig file for the 2 hour movie. Looked fine.
It is nice but IMHO it is big so it is not something that you will just "bring along for the ride". You will need to plan to carry this.

Re: Whos the first!!
Got mine in the mail today!
Also I checked with Quadrant. Showing top clock speed of 1.5GHz, and the system info shows "OMAP version: OMAP4460 ES1.1", so we definitely got the good model.
I wouldn't suggest the Skinomi unless you just want it for the body protection around the sides and back. Those are the only pieces that I have on there, and I really do like it. The skin adds some grip to the tablet so it doesn't feel like it's going to slip out of my hands.Harfainx wrote:The following are the things I bought for it.

Congrats Harf, I will not have any time to play with mine indepthly until the weekend.
I would have bet the ranch that Roy would have gotten his first but maybe Royal Currier Service isn't so hot.
Roy you should see if Pippa can work on that for you.

Re: Whos the first!!
Lucky mine came fast, because without a tracking number I need to spend 7 hrs each day within earshot of my doorbell. Anyway I have a bit of erratic behavior, most of which I suspect may go away with the new android release (isn't it more tailored to tablets?).
But there is one thing that might be hardware - my touchscreen is often unsensitive in vertical strips between column 1/2 and especially 2/3 in the stock launcher. Most easily noticed by trying to slide an icon left/right across those areas, and it will stop. Then it tries to invoke the app since it is sitting there being touched. Worst of all, in the browser these areas include my most frequent click link, and it will only hit on the item to the left or right of the dead zones.
But the weird thing is sometimes this problem can go away for a while. There are reports of a related problem appearing in recent firmwares. Maybe it is something to do with software grid roundoff errors that is needed because honeyc thinks it is a scaled up phone? But I am afraid it could be a borderline hardware problem that just varies with degree of grounding.
The other problems are crashing browser on certain web pages (someone said it helps to load flash 10.3 rather than 11?) and something I forget. Maybe it was how some apps scale their display funny, and give you a soft focus. In ice cream, maybe the apps will work better on tablets, so I won't publically discuss the potential honeyc quirks.

Congrats vik, bummer to hear you may have some issues to deal with.
Is it a 10 16giger? Or did you get something else?

Re: Whos the first!!
I had proposed the slowest 8 incher (ex demo OK), but they decided to be generous to me too with the turbo a101gb16.
It looks like we don't really have the usual trail-breaking power users on the G9 forums that help guide everyone else - maybe Archos hopes one of you will fall into that role.
I have a look-alike Arnova 101g2 that sits next to the Archos101g9, and weirdly I find myself grabbing the feeble Arnova to get things done because I haven't gotten the Archos to behave yet. I'm not a trail-breaker, but I had found a few overlooked posts (sometimes in other forums) that really unlocked the potential of the Arnova, so summarized a setup approach in an Arnova G2 sticky topic. It works surprisingly well in spite of bad viewing angles and stripped down firmware. Maybe after the ice cream update, we can get more organized with G9 advice.

Re: Whos the first!!
IMHO one of the best FAQ sections was back in the 605 era. There were a tremendous amount of very informative threads that went on for a longer period of time, lot of info in them. When we put the FAQ section together there we formated it as:
Question: How do I do so and so?
Answer: Please see this "link" to the posted thread.
It went fairly well for that generation.
At that time Archos was somewhat trail blazing in their product line. As with anything though once something is out there with a certain "knitch" others will follow to capitalize. That may be why you don't see that many power users that you did in the past. Power users now have many choices so they get spread around a lot more.

Re: Whos the first!!
I haven't rooted mine yet, but I plan on doing a full tear-down this weekend, and possibly trying to do some framework changes.
I'll be gone from Feb 3rd to Feb 22nd, but after I get back from vacation I will likely become very active on the G9 forum sections.

Re: Whos the first!!
I hope you had some success. I have a stuck RMA 9932643722 because cannot explain to us-rma@archos.com why no proof of purchase. I guess my backup plan is to rotate 180 degrees every few seconds, such as to avoid dead key spots on the keyboard.roylovelock wrote:still waiting for any word on mine
