Archos in 2012

Post by BenMars »

Henri Crohas was interviewed by a French radio.

He bets Archos will reach the 200 MÔé¼ in 2011 and 1 billion in 3-4 years.

In 2012 :
- Thiner tablets : 7mm

- Thiner keyboard for tablets: tablet + keyboard :11mm

- Child size robot for domestic usage and affordable price

- a TV remote (new patent)

- All the new Archos tablets can manage home automation, without the need for a dedicated center like today.

Everybody saw the Archos HQ video?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... CLVbaCstGg

I found some interesting things there:

In the right upper corner you see a white Archos 35 home connect. One of the speakers is still black, so probably it is just a pre-production unit. However, it would be fun if they would release a white device. They stopped doing that since the 9 pctablet. And, to be honest, I like the black version in front of it more. :)

Then, you can see a 80G9 HDD(because of the separate power socket) laying on the table. To the elft of it, two thin batterys. They are not used in current G9 line. On the left side of the picture, we see an interesting tabelt. It's pretty thin, looks to be around ~8", looks quite finished, has an HDMI-out and camera/light sensor. Could it be an early prototype of Arnova G3? Or just an Arnova 8b G2?

The thing behind it is a very strange device. It looks like an ordinary G9, but then reverted. May be some early prototype of an 12"? Or just a prototype?

On that screenshot only the Arnova G2-thing is interesting. It lacks an HDMI-out plastic covering. Is it also the case on soming other 10 G2's or is it a different model?

I have looked at this unknown tablet and it looks a bit like the "reverted" G9 on the first picture of mine. At least, if we assume that the white area is the actual black steel bezel. However, now I am really confused. I took your picture, tried to make it a perpendicular one. It looked like it is ~4:3 format, may be 5:4. However, because 5:4 is not popular(does it even exist?), we can assume it's just 4:3. Then the size - first I thought it was 12". However, when I had a look, it looks more like it's 10.1". Also, when you look at the placement of the ports, you find that they are spread out nearly the same as on the normal 101 G9. So, it could be just an 10.1" in 4:3 format. There are more 9.7" 4:3 screens, but I don't think Archos wants to wrangle with Apple. 4.3 for an 10" sounds like a very strange choice, but who knows. It would be more strange to see that on an 12". :D

And no, it's not an ordinary 80G9 with 101G9 written on it. The bezel is smaller and the black steel thing is different. I find it looking very strange now, but we'll see.
