I am really thinking of buying the 504 80gb these days... but still, I am not sure of which files can be played. If I download from emule, for example, the latest episode of Lost (keepi in mind that I live in Italy, I have to wait one year to be able to see the episodes), will I be able to watch them on the archos?
Or will I have to convert them?
I want to have a device that will be able to play all kind of video, without resampling them, and I know that there are some plug-ins to pay for download from archos, and I will do that. But after that, will I be able to play, for example, videos downloaded from gamevideos.com? or from quicktime.com?

-specifically, I have downloaded this file from emule (it's HDTV, 5.1 AC3). Could you possibly check if this is playable on your Archos? The file name is "Prison.Break.S02E01.Manhunt.HR.HDTV.AC3.5.1.XviD-DiMENSION"
-if you can't watch them, you should convert them: how long does it take on average for a film to convert it (I'll use a Pentium4 2000)?
-is it possible to convert the .mov files into something playable on archos?
-is there any chance that .mov files will be playable in future bios release?
-in this sense, is it possible to find in internet undergound bios that are more advanced than official ones? I knew that, some years ago, a friend of mine used to say that some non-official bios were far more better than official ones...

AC3 files currently won't play on the 504. Archos has a plug-in that supposedly will allow the 504 to play these files, but it's "coming soon" and the tech support folks have no idea when it will be available. If you don't mind waiting a week (month) or two for the plugins, the 504 is a good player.

Ok, that was what I was thinking. I suppose though there is a way to convert these files in a compatible stereo file, isn't it? and what software do you suggest is worth doing this?
