battery need to be replace

Hi,
My archos 5 battery need to be replace due to the fact that it getting discharge most faster than it used to be. In about 1hours of used, my battery get half empty.

I looked online to buy a new battery but can't find anything. Do anyone got more luck and can tell me where to find one?

May not be what you are after, but the Battery Dock may be an alternative if you have no luck finding a battery. See towards the bottom of the page (it works with the 5IT Android):

I do have a battery dock but the connector under the archos is getting lose after some time due to the fact to plug and unplug many time my car charger. I already fixed 2 or 3 time this connector (connector soldering getting bad making bad contact) but now I mreaching the point that this connector can't be fix and may need to be replace too.

Maybe it is time for me to get a new one, hopefully the gen9 will have a new archos5 like in better!

califda - AFAICT, there is no replacement battery for the Archos 5IT available. If you do find one, PLEASE let us know the brand and model and where you were able to find it! I've been looking for the past four months... If you search this forum, you'll find many posts/threads about this. I did find one thread where a poster was testing three different batteries but I haven't been able to find it since (searching the forum is not great).

97,50? Im glad I have a service contract on my Archos 48

Although..... If my battery breaks down over 2 years I already have payed 120 euro's. But I just have to bring my device back to the store if something is wrong they handle it.

I was not able to find any battery that would be shipped to Norway for less than a fortune in shipping charges.

Too bad Archos won't just service the darn thing without the RMA hoopla (I bought mine used, though I was able to register it)... To get the $14 battery shipped to Canada will cost an additional $45 plus whatever Canada Customs decides to tack on. Probably better to just have Archos replace the battery given the potential for damaging the unit/time involved.

Still, thank you for the link - I now have a battery and manufacturer to search for; maybe there is a Canadian distributor.

If someone would measure the battery I would be able to find a replacement I think. A picture of the battery would be a good start. I'm not going to take mine apart just to look. I happen to know a lot about batterys and have many good sources for them

Without measurements I can only guess. the batery is a 1700mah lipo 1 cellcellll I found a 2 cell pack you would have to split the pack. You may even have to get a 3 cell and split it to get the right size. Spliting lipo packs is easy and if you are going to change the battery yourself you should have no problem doing it.

Here are some that might work they tell the size of it on the page. Its 1600 mah so its very close to the archos oem battery. You would have to split it then you would have an extra to sell.
