Archos 101 - problem in watching video in internet

Post by wmyikphk »

I've just bought a Archos 101 Froyo. It works fine except in watching video in internet that required "Adobe flash player". After watchng the video for about one minute, it will suddenly stop and quit from the web browser to the desktop screen automatically. Anyone have similar problem ? Is it a hardware problem or just a software issue ? Any solutions ? please advise.

Thanks.

I have a similar issue. It is better with the stock flash player and if you decrease the resolution. I also find that it's more relaible on the second play back.

First of all, thanks for the comments but I don't understand what exactly you mean:

1. What do you mean by "Stock Flash Player" ? Where can I download this apps ? The flash player apps I am using now is "Adobe Flash Player ver. 10.1" which was downloaded from the Appslib.

2. How to change the resolution ? As far as I know, the resultion of the Archos 101 IT is 1024 x 600. Can it be changed to lower resolution ?

Any other solutions to the captioned video issue ? I am very disappointed if this problem can't be solved. It is because I can't enjoy using the Archos 101 to watch the news (in video) in the internet if it quits the web browser every minute.

Anyone have similar problem or have interest on this topic can visit a web site that required "flash player". Select and play some videos to see if the web browser will stop suddenly and return to the Archos desktop screen. following is one example web site required "flash player" in Hong Kong:

When I got my second 101 to replace the first that was returned to Amazon, I stayed with FW 2.0.71, which is the last stable release of Froyo, IMO. That said, even if you're running a more recent FW release, I'd suggest that you go into the "About Device" settings and change the power management mode to "Overdrive." I would also suggest that you download the updated Droid X flash player. You can find a link to download it in this thread. http://forum.archosfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=47871 Remember, we're using a glorified phone OS so your browser's cache is limited and if you're watching a full episode online, you may need to clear your browser's cache while viewing (you'll get a white screen with a gray arrow when the cache is full). Good luck.

It is really a good news but I can't download the apps with the following link:

link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=86G2LSC0

After go to the above web site, it only displayed the message "This service is temporarily not available from your service area" in the screen. I repeat few times (in different time) but got the same message.

Please kindly provide other web sites/ links that can download the apps you mentioned.

Thanks a lot.

During tracing the cause of the "flash player problem", I'd lost all the pre-installed apps after performed a "Full reinitialization" action (by mistake) for the Archos 101. That including the user manual installed in the machine also erased.

When I press "User Manual" icon now , it will display " User Manual is missing on your device. Would you like to read it online ? ". Although I can read it online , it is very inconvenience. Can anyone tell me what apps are pre-installed in the Archos 101 ? Where can I download it again (including the user manual) ?

By the way, what is the latest available "Flash Player version" for Archos 101 now ? Is it version 10.1 ? Anybody knows it ?

Thanks !

Adobe Flash 10.2 (unofficial release - leaked apk) is the latest one. This was a apk released for the motorola Xoom but works cool with the Archos 101. I've installed it in mine and could see a significant enhancement in the video quality while streaming.

XDA forum link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=990314

You can find the apk download link in the above forum link.
