Archos 101 suddenly blacks out..

My Archos 101IT suddenly blackout , After an uodate of 2.1.8 then use it for 48hrs the screen suddenly blacks out... I've tried turn ON turn OFF, none happens... Tried doing it with - or +...Nada.. But still turn ON... I can touch something on the screen... Like if Im lucky I can go the videos and play, you only hear sounds, no video on screen... Maybe other people their had the same issue, that can help me... I'm here in the Phil, maybe I can RMA this.. or maybe it can be fix...

If I put some light like a flash light on the screen I can see a somw of the deskstop... so its like the device has no light inside..

Using your flashlight, can you navigate to settings | display | brightness and check whether it has spontaneously set itself to lowest possible value (although that should still provide some visiblity of the display). If you can do that, try setting the Screen Timeout to Never and reboot.

However, you also said that you cannot get the Recovery Menu (press and hold Power button for >10secs to ensure device is really off and not just 'hiding'. Then press and hold Volume Down, press Power button whilst still holding Volume Down, then release Power button and finally release Volume Down). If this doesnt display the white recovery menu then it suggests a hardware failure.

Sounds like a dead backlight m8. I had it last week but thats because i have previously opened it up and messed around with cabling. It is likely that a cable is loose inside, so solutions are to either RMA or open up and check every connection. Hope this helps

Im in the philippines Can I RMA this... bought this in HongKong.. do you have any contact number oF Archos base?
