intermittent button function on my Archos 504

I picked up a battered 80gb model 504 on which the function buttons along the right hand side work intermittently. I sometimes have to press a button several times before it works. Any tips or hints on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. <signed> Dan in snowy West Michigan USA

I had this situation with my 504 (since superceeded by an a5a 500gb) - I spilt some orange juice on it early in it's life which got into the buttons area and they only worked intermittantly after this.

I stumbled on a solution though.

As bizarre as it might sound, I found that if I held the device right up to my mouth with lips pretty much touching (on the side/end of the device where the buttons are) and blew into the buttons area this fixed the issue for that session of use. I suspect the moisture in the breath helped with the function of the contacts below the buttons. Give it a go.
