Lexerd Screen protector = yuck

Post by TheStamos »

So I waited 1.5 weeks to even touch my Archos 70 because I wanted to wait for the Lexerd screen protector.....I must say, I'm very disappointment.

I set everything up on a glass desk to make sure I was as dust free as possible. I put on rubber gloves, no latex, no powder, and I got started. Upon removing the protector from it's plastic cover I watched as dust particles were immediately drawn to the protector because the static cling on it was inhumanly powerful. So right off the bat I have dust on a screen that I waited patiently to use for that exactly reason....ok so, I finally apply the scree and remove all the air bubbles. I turn on the device and I'm greeted with the grainiest screen I've ever seen from a screen protector. This "anti-glare" is no more than a bunch of colorful rainbow specks that make the picture look terrible.

So now I'm stuck with this dust covered rainbow screen.

Aside from this, is there ANY type of screen protector that isn't "anti-glare" and keeps the quality of the screen the way it's meant to be seen? Lexerd advertised how these protector preserved it's colors, unfortunately it does everything BUT that. Does anyone recommend using the Archos without one? I'm extremely careful with my stuff, but I know since the Archos doesn't use Gorilla glass that surface scratches can come out of nowhere, so I'm afraid to use one without it. Any suggestions or advice?

I bought a sheet I had to cut myself for about $7 from one of the big name producers. Can't remember the name now. the best screen protector or some presumptuous name like that. It does have a couple specs of dust under it, I took it off and put it back on about 5 times before I got it right though so its mostly my fault.

hey, oic0, can you put some pictures of it here? The item is in my amazon cart so if it's no good then I'll delete it. Hard to find screen protector here in Indonesia.

The one I have?

This picture is pretty harsh, its with it turned in the light to pick up all of the imprefections. Its also just after I put it on so theres a tiny bit of water still under it in places (the foggy lookin parts).

If cut well and installed well, I would say its a pretty good one. If I were doing mine over i could probably get it close to perfect. Then again I always consider installing these things a roll of the dice. This one is fairly forgiving though. It feels a bit stretchy and rubbery. Sort of like vinyl, not much sticky stuff on it so its easier to work with.
A lot of the other ones I have for phones and such are very hard plastic, they tend to scratch pretty easy compared to this more rubbery stuff. It only has one tiny scratch on it sofar.

http://www.bestskinsever.com/diy-skins I got the 3.75x9 for 6.99. Still a rip off IMO but so are almost all screen protectors.

I have to agree. The lexerd screen protector sucks. I got a refund on my 2 pack of them. Cut too small and just cheap quality. a real dust magnet and the edges don't even lay down all the way. I ended up getting 2 off of eBay from HK. It was delivered in about 10 days and cost 1/2 as much.

I got mine from a mob called Screen Patronus on Ebay. I think it was only about $10 for a pair, free shipping even to Australia! The fit is pretty good (could do with 1 extra millimetre in length), and putting it on was only a little bit tricky. I'd recommend them.
