Random Slight Snapping Sound

Post by Jabzap »

I've had my 70IT for only a few days and this all is a first time experience for me. There's so much to learn and I avoid asking numerous questions because a lot of answers can be found on this forum. However, I'm concerned about something and am wondering if anyone has been experiencing this with their device. I hear this slight, snap sort of a sound from time to time. It's barely audible, but relatively consistent. It's sounds like a slight static sound. If anyone can offer up any suggestions, it would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

I hear crackles as the foldable arm gets pressed into it's slot deeper from random handhold changes. I think I hear slight clicks from pressing the screen edge, and I guess it draws back from the bezel. Lastly the speakers give fuzzy static if I play a real low quality mp3.

Thanks for the quick reply, viking! What I hear sounds like it's coming from the speakers. It's such a slight & quick static snap-type sound, that it's really hard to tell. But, if this is my greatest issue, than I can grudgingly accept it if it means that that there's no real and progressive damage working here. I'll just have to see how it pans out within the next few weeks.

How's your battery/charger faring?

Besides the kickstand arm, in a quiet environment the volume up/down rocker switch can also make a slight rattle if the device is shaken, or at times when the device is moved between various positions. Other than those very minor things, I've found the A70 to be quite solid.

i've been trying to get it down to the suggested 15% charge, but we had a storm threatening a power owtage so I kept topping it off. I guess it is good that it seems slow to drain down. The charger seems to stay cool, so I am just leaving it plugged into the wall even when not plugged into a70 - hope that doesn't wear it out.

That random snapping sound is something Archos has pronissed to resolve in the next Firmware updatr. It is thresult to the Archos switching its Operating speed from 300 to 800 or to 1000ghz on the fly.

So, I'm not alone then. I thought it may have been tiny little electro static discharge instances which gave me cause for concern. Thanks for the heads up!

Turn off the sound. Mine makes nasty little sounds during general usage so I just keep the sound off until I need it.
