Trying on A70 now, first boot takes 10-15 minutes with logo screen animation, still not done, maybe something is wrong..

I force shut it down with long power press, and then normal boot worked, it asked to reset files which I did and installed the 11 apps package. Now testing in 2.2 and it works.

I had 2GB MicroSD card inserted and battery level below 15% (but of course plugged on power adapter when upgrading), maybe that influenced the stalled first boot.

Multi-touch keyboard seems to work beautifully with Froyo on A70, the browser is smoother too, should definitely aim to ship initial A70 and A101 with fast multi-touch keyboard support which at least I remember was not active in 1.0.73.

On the "Transition to Android 2.2 (Froyo)" first boot installation screen on A70, after waiting 3-4 seconds, there was an error message "Sorry! Process system is not responding", I clicked Force close and things moved along fine. Just could seem worrisome for users when updating to Froyo if they see this message.

Could Archos recommend users a specific app backup and restore application so that people can backup every app in 2.1 and restore in 2.2 after a clean install clearing system and apps when updating to that?

In the "Transition to Android 2.2 (Froyo)" first boot installation screen on A43, because the USB cable was still connected (as recommended when upgrading), the screen with "USB Mount" takes over the Reset recommendation screen (might be an idea to override that Mount screen this once?). Now I clicked the Reset recommended option, and it seems to stall in a 5 minute plus boot animation screen. I force shut it down on long power press and now it seems to boot correctly into Android 2.2 for the first time.

No problem on my side during the firmware installation.

Two first remarks about this new firmware :
- the "home" touch button doesn't work any more... (when I click on it, nothing happens)
- the musical widget has a main bug : when I click on the big white arrow, I have a force close error message

We noticed the issue and are working on it. It should work fine at next reboot.

YoutubeHD.apk doesn't work (I think that YouTubeHD.apk only supports HQ video, not real 720p HD, I wonder if you could modify one to support 720p, would be especially great for YouTube on HDMI), maybe it's because a Froyo version of Youtube apk is needed (also I'm looking forward to test Flash 10.1 support once you activate it..):

Angry Birds full and Lite doesn't seem to install (they worked super fine on Eclair):

Asphalt 5 (recommended by forum users as a good game to test 3D) doesn't seem to detect the MicroSD card or something, something that is required to run the game (didn't work on Eclair either):

One modification to Android Browser which I would recommend, is to add File Browser as option when selecting files to upload, such as if you want to upload something at http://docs.google.com, http://rapidshare.com, http://upload.youtube.com/my_videos_upload or any other web based upload sites, it only offers choice among selecting of files in Gallery, Select music track (I guess from Archos music player) and Sound Recorder. If you could just somehow add "Files" as option, and let people select any file in Files, then Archos can be used to upload any files to any website directly through the standard browser.

Warning : don't try to back to Eclair. I tried and my A7IT is now out of order (after install and reboot, force close)

Low volume audio on Skype apk using headphones on A70 and A43 (shouldn't the VOIP apps work with the speakers as well?), also the installation OK Next and such buttons in Skype are hard to hit because they are mostly covered by the software android buttons, there was the same low volume for Skype problem with the eclair firmware.

Gen7's latest firmwares seem to handle automatic background app closing well, so the device would never lock up and get slow because of low RAM availability. Hopefully, you can implement that soon on these new firmwares too. Basically, apps in the background that are least in use should automatically close if RAM availability is getting low, before the whole Android OS starts to get slow or even unresponsive. I guess this is a default feature of Android OS and one which is best to implement in 2.2?

If you can handle this well and possibly if you can offer that App Space remapping option somewhere in settings, which is something some forum users are asking (allow to store apps on Nand or something like that..), then I think people won't describe the 256MB RAM or ROM App Space things as being any negative things.
