WiMax dongle?

Post by EmVee »

Since the 70 doesn't include 3G capabilities, I started looking for possible alternatives and I happened upon this.

Would it work with the 70?

I am not sure about a dongle, but I do know there also exist portable Wimax hotspots that just turn the Wimax into Wifi for your use. That will definitely work.

Still have to see how the the coverage is at work, but I am posting using a clear 4G Personal hotspot I picked up at bestbuy today and so far it is great!

Well the wimax hotspot does not pick up any signal at all where I work even though clears coverage map says there is coverage there. Will have to exchange it for the 4g/3g hotspot they have. I saw someones open sprint mifi2200 show up on my tablet so clear must have 3g there since they share with sprint.

Spoke with clear by phone going to return 4g hotspot to bestbuy and have clear send me a 4g/3g spot instead. That should give me coverage at work.

If the dongle doesn't work out for you I bought a mifi that works great with my 70. Most carriers have them and virgin mobile is truly unlimited for 40 a month.

I'm waiting for an adapter for my A70 and also an A101. I have a Clear wimax USB stick on a hot spot. In fact I will be selling it as I get faster coverage using my Vibrant as a hot spot on T-Mobile. I love when Sprint says that's not 4G. Who cares what you call faster, but both are pretty good. Anyway I can test if the USB modem works, but I have doubts. Supposedly past versions would support 3.5 G. I would say with the A70 you would need a Y cable and USB battery just try, but I do have those. I don't think the A70 will drive a modem without extra power.

Yeah I am still waiting on Clear. They screwed up my order over the phone and the guy shipped out the 4g/3g usb modem instead of the hotspot I asked him for.... So now I have to refuse that when it comes and then wait again for them to send the right one.
