Screen protection for Gen8

Post by jkajolin »

Anyone know what kind of screen protection films or whatever they are called will fit to example 43,70 and 101 models.

Was wondering that if there is similar mobile phone displays out there example will IPhone4 screen protection fit to the 43 model (at least there a similar size GPS devices).

As there are already screen protection films for Archos 7HT would the screen size be same as what new 70 model or does it matter that it has different kind of screen.

Just as I sold my 5IT it had some scratch marks and it lowed the reselling price.

Already put required mini HDMI cable, the specific USB cable (Fuj:tech USB-360, hopefully it is correct one), wireless keyboard/table (Prodige NanoX) and microsd Card in to order.

I bought clear screen protection plastics for A43, A70 and A101.
A70 I got one that was said to fit Archos 7
A101 I got one that was said to fit Apple Ipad
A43 I got one that was said to fit HTC HD2

The HTC HD2 looks a bit shady as the lower bottom is not cut straight but hopefully they fit somehow.

Those are not same screens. But I'm not a screen protector expert, maybe capacitive/resistive doesn't matter much for screen protectors. I would guess though that they are not going to work.

Yes I know they may not be perfect fits.
Actually there is no marking for any specific devices.
When I had screen protection for Ipod touch it was not 100% match either, few millimeters where missing.

You usually do not use the whole area of the touch screen so if I need to cut some it does not matter.

The ones I looked over had no difference between Iphone or any other device, only difference was the size and edges.

I have contacted several vendors and ZAGG didn't get back to me yet, Clariview asked me for the specs. I would like to have it ready when I get my 43 and 101.

The screen protectors for my HTC Droid Incredible also fit my Archos 32. It's a tight fit to install. But it works.

Are the Gen8 screens Gorilla Glass?

Are the Gen8 screens Gorilla Glass? I'd probably go without the screen protector if it is... Or... If the glare is too much I might go with a screen protector to cut it down a bit...

mp3: Perhaps try an iPhone/iPod Touch protector. It would probably stretch over the capacitive buttons, which might be a plus for you.

Tried to buy a protector on ebay for my 70 and from the seller "navscreen"

After the purchase they contacted by email to confirm my device and when I told them "Archos 70" I was informed they didn't have those yet. Even though they were listed in the auction.

He offer to custom cut me one if I got him the specs and seemed pretty nice but before I could reply again. (was a busy day) I had a shipped notification. I guess he got tired of waiting to hear back.

So no CLUE whats on the way.

In case anyone still wants a screen protector I went to Walmart and got a sheet of the thinnest vinyl covering they had. All you have to do is cut the right size out of it and lay it across the screen for a cheap screen protector. Worked fine on my 43 but theres some bubbles under mine since I cut it a little to big.

Just got back from the mall. I bought a screen protector for a 12" laptop and then brought it next door to the cellphone store and had them put it in (They're experts at cutting and resizing). Was kinda worried it'll throw the touchscreen off, but it still seems responsive.

The nice thing is, the screen is now on level with the bevel, so it's now a bit easier to hit the space bar.

Are you saying the screen protector you have applied overlaps on to the glossy frame? or that the Screen protector is so thick it fills the recessed space where you have the screen?

I just ordered and they shipped last night. (Same seller name) They confirmed that they were sending me screens for the A70 model. So, looks like they have them now.
