Using the Archos 5 as a camera input

Post by mdwst »

Hey all. Has anyone used the Archos 5 to record direct camera input?

I want to max out the DVR with as many hours I can of video I'm recording through an old Sony Handycam via S-Video.

The recorder seemed to crap out at about 6-8 hours (sorry I don't have the exact length or file size as the file got erased accidentally). I really want to use this for a weekend-long type project (or several weeks depending on the hours/GB size) for a security type application.

I think there may be something regarding the max file size of .AVI files being either 2gb or 4gb depending on the exact file type. But I was hoping to get some type of workaround to allow a new 2gb/4gb track to be written for every Xhr block.

Thanks!

First you are in the gen 3/4 section and are askin a question about the gen 6 A5.

You probably can not record more than the "6-8 hours" per recording because the file system (FAT 32) can only handle files that are smaller than 4GB, recording longer probably exceeds that restriction. You could try to setup multiple recording instances and see if that works.
