all letters have disappeared from menus

Post by paz1664 »

Hi all, I got a vision 3 for christmas and it's been great up until yesterday when all the letters have vanished from my archos, all I can see are symbols, most of them look like mobile phone icons. I've gone into settings to see if the language setting had changed but it doesn't seem to be that as there aren't any letters there either. If i go to device info it's still on english and I can change it to german and other languages, just there aren't any letters shown.

Anybody got any clues to this one?

Hmmmm, if it's not the language I'd be tempted to try a firmware reinstall if restoring default settings doesn't help. If that doesn't work I'd exchange or get a refund on the device.

you could always try resetting it, at the back theres a little button and above it, it says reset. now that would probably delete all of the thing you have upload, yourself. not the songs that they upload but that could work.
So if you do this i would suggest, go into your video, pictures and music and making copies keeping them on your computer in a folder. then re-adding them from that folder so you dont have to filter songs you dont want. if you resetting :!:

Well, I've tried the reset umpteen times, tried the restore to factory default with no luck. I've been looking for the firmware but can't find it anywhere, Archos don't even list the Vision on their download site so really don't know where to get it from. I'd be very grateful if someone knows where to get the firmware from. I've sent an email to Archos but as yet haven't got a reply.
