Anyone recall how much memory was free on an 8Gb Archos 2? My daughter got one for Christmas and I was shocked to only see around 4.5Gb free out of the 8Gb. The Archos web site says that some of the memory is used for programmes but claiming an 8Gb unit but then stealing most of it for the OS is a little be excessive and damn right misleading. So I am trying to assert whether it is an issue with the unit is this is generally the case. So any feedback on this would be appreciated.
Also has anyone re-formatted the Archos 2 file system from Windows?

I assume that you have deleted all of the free music, photos and video that came with your Archos? I have reformatted my Archos 2 Vision. I use Ubuntu Linux instead of Windows, but I still formatted it to a standard MSDOS compatible file system, i.e FAT16, not FAT32 of NTFS, and I had no problems. IIRC mine Archos 2 Vision has 7.8GB free when there are no files on it.grahamm wrote:Anyone recall how much memory was free on an 8Gb Archos 2?
