A5IT 500Gb - New User Queries

Hi everyone, brand new to the forum and after a little advice / assistance with regard to the A5IT 500Gb version...

1. Generally what are your feelings for those that own this version of the tablet, does it perform as expected? Or has there been a number of bugs / failures that would warrant holding on for a bit?
2. Purchasing: I've checked UK shops - Currys / Argos / Comet etc all have the previous versions, is there any other UK outlets that would stock this unit and as the previously mentioned shops hold the older system - are the pheripherals compatible?
3. Does anyone use it connecting to a mac? I only have a mac and wonder what the quickest / best solution is for transfering media across?

If I can think of anything else i'll post, but thanks for any answers posted .

I own the 500gb unit.

Ive had a few needs to reboot this unit while copying data the media center app crashed!!
It seems it was my fault as the files were named incorrectly.

The touch screen isnt quite as quick as I would like it.

Gen 6 archos 5 peripherals (dvr sync cables etc) will work gen 5 win not.

Dixons tax free sell these (or atleast are expecting them soon) they have sold off all their older units.

Sorry I'm not a mac guy.

My main pet peev is it doesnt play all mkvs. I have a load of scene stuff and its so hit and miss if it works or not.
Im tempted to re-encode them into mkvs that will but I dont have a definitie spec for the profile that will.

I have the A5 IT 500 GB for 10 days.

So far most things are working and I was pretty happy from an upgrade from an Archos 605. Internet is specially fast.

However transfer of files from a Mac is difficult if you have a lot of files or if they are big. The only way it worked for me was to use parallels with Windows XP (although about half speed as compared to previous versions of archos since they change the file system from FAT32 to ext2).

Also I have the problem that the player stops when playing video files (divx, MEPG2 and VOB). Another person has this problem also on the forum. The player stops randomly after a few minutes or a few 10s of minutes. I contacted the shop where I bought it to see if I can exchange it.

Apart from this video problem I was pretty happy with it.

Thanks guys, I've read the topic regarding video issues, perhaps a firmware update will resolve this?!

Think my mind is made up, this Android version has come on quite a bit from the last generation, guess I'll be parting with some cash...
