av500 Recording Issues

Post by Bert Uk »

Hello, I searched this site a few times and couldn't find anything relating to my problem so I'll ask now.

I have an AV500 and I use an Xbox360, and One of my friends told me that the AV500 Can record Xbox360 footage - I was amazed by this and was wondering how I could possibly do it, At the moment I have My AV500 connected to my TV Docking Pod, and My docking Pod is recieving an AV signal from my Scart which is plugged into a 2 way scart plug which is connected to my Television, My Xbox is using the other one of these scarts to connect to my television.

This setup doesn't pick up any signal for recording unless I set my source to Black & White, I have messed around checking every wire is plugged in correctly countless times but quite frankly I'm baffled by this, Is there even a way to record colour and sound with an Xbox?

Ok... well first off, most TV set that has Video Out will have it from RCA... and I have my Archos Dock receiving signal from here, cause there is no VCR or DVD with many connections...
The problem with this is that the Video Out of the TV will only send signal coming from another RCA source or Coaxial cable... But it will not send to the Archos the HDMI or VGA signal...
You can plug the RCA cables (yellow, red, white) to an Video plug in of your TV and you will receive signal if it have video out.

The second mode is to bypass the Xbox connection to the Archos dock directly... but you will need a female-to-female RCA connection, so you can plug the xbox's cable to adapter and then to dock's cable... and then the cable from the dock to the TV....

Anyway you chose you will need to make the Xbox settings compatible with 480 resolution and it will not be HD this mode.

Try to see if it work and post some playing time on youtube ;)

Right I'm not the greatest with electronics I'm not going to pretend I am. I have two of these http://www.cablesdirect.com/prodimages/RCA2-FF_LR.jpg and I'm not entirely sure if that helps or what I should do with it.

When you mention plugging the xbox cable into an adapter I get lost, I'm pretty sure I dont have an adapter unless I Do and just dont understand these technical terms :(

I think I have to connect the xbox Yellow,Red White cable to the Yellow,Red White of the AV IN of the docking Pod? Then connect the pod to the TV or am I getting this wrong

Yeah that adapter of the link you post will work, you will need 3 of those (since are doubles it will make 6 connections)

You are right... all you need to do is to connect the red, yellow white.. cable coming from xbox, into the ones of the dock (to where it says AV in) and the "AV out" take it to the TV..

Note that you may be playing with a little delay in sound.. but youll be able to record....

Im not sure, since I dont own an xbox, but you might have to change resolution settings... to 480 pixels
