How do you reduce silent gaps between songs when playing mus

I have an AV700 and I wonder if anyone can advise how to reduce the gaps between songs, for example when listening to a playlist. I have found something called 'interval' in the settings but this can only be reduced to 20s (and still seems longer in reality, more like 35s, which is an awful long time if you are playing a playlist at a party. Any advice would be very welcome!

What "interval option" did you find in the settings... (under what?)

The gaps between songs is not fixable... this player does not support gapless playback but the gaps should not be more than 1-2 seconds (never 35 as you said)

So you might have a problem of another nature.....


Are you talking about Scan Mode? (Intro Mode) thats the only interval I can think of... the minimum its 10 seconds and the max is 90 before skipping to the next song

Hi. I think I may have a problem then. The gap between songs seems to be 30-40 seconds (and is very annoying) - not realising that it should be pre-fixed at 1-2 seconds, I looked through the functions and could only find the Intro setting (not interval as I originally said) as you described, but this is obviously not the setting I need to fix my 'gap' problem. Do you have any advice on what I could do to fix my problem. I did send my Archos back to RMA (had a black/grey screen issue & Archos locked up) a few months ago- they fixed it but I'm sure the gaps between songs have increased since it was returned - it used to feel like 10s, but now it's almost unbearable. thanks

Its really the first time I heard of this issue... and I am not sure if its HDD related, files related or what... but you can try different things... one at a time to isolate the problem...

Does this happen with all of the songs you have?
What format are you using, mp3 or wma (i doubt you use wav)?
How do you transfer music to your Archos?

- if its a file issue... try checking at what speed you are playing.. (bit rate... example: 160 kbps) and if its constant bit rate or variable bit rate (VBR)....
Then convert few files with an audio edit software like Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/ and make sure you have the "export as mp3" option available... if not search the link for the "lame mp3 encoder" for audacity...
It is very simple to use... just drag the file into it, and then click on File->Export As MP3... and that's it...

after that drag those files to your player and try and see if they work correctly...


- if its Archos related... I have always used it as a mass storage class device... cause I dont like windows media player sync or any other tools like that... So try changing your method and see if that works...

- if its HDD... well copy all the information in a computer... and Format your Archos BY THE BUILT IN FORMAT TOOL.... dont format from computer...

The format tool is in Settings-->System--> (hold menu down arrow until "Format HD" appears) and click on it...



Hope you find the answer... I always try to fix my Archos by myself... cause my warranty is gone and its not as hard as you might think...

Hi, I rip CD tracks via Widows Media Player then synchronise to my Archos. The files are all wma format and all at 128kbps. Would you advise that I try to convert the files to mp3 format? Thanks.

Hi there....

yes, I have had problems in the past due to Tag info in wma songs.... and that could even freeze my AV500...

So I converted all my songs to mp3....

I cant recall if Audacity is able to read wma... but now I use Adobe Audition thats able to convert a bunch of files at once, without altering file name nor id3Tag... but its not free...

Other than that I also recommend to change your settings to MSC instead of syncing with wmp... I know its not as convenient for many people, but I like it more... its even faster to place files in the Archos
