Help 404 keeps rebooting when connected to my computer

Help, my 404 developed a problem today. When it is connected to my computer (tried two machines Vista and XP) the 404 just starts rebooting every time I try to access the data (add file, delete file, copy file). It plays fine by itself or on the DVR station.

Any suggestions?

Sorry no solution, but my 404 does something simular.

I think the hdd is at fault.

I've tried running a hdd scan but only found that at a certain point the 404 just hangs or reboots.

Have you been succesfull in solving the problem yet?

I had this happen, and ran an indepth scan of the HDD (scan and attempt recovery of bad sectors). This took an incredibly long time, but it solved the problem.. erm Kind of... 3 Months later my HDD completely failed on me (catastrophic failure (bad sectors). Might be a warning sign to get your HDD replaced.
