AV500 New Owner - Recording Capacity Question

Post by delmastiff »

Hi All,
I have just purchased a hardly used 60 GB AV500 along with the travel dock. I must say I am very impressed with it and can only imagine how awesome the newer wi-fi models must be!

I have bought it essentially to record from a bullet camera which is mounted in my track day car and my question is, how many hours of footage can I roughly expect to record on it's built in 60GB hard drive?

Thanks in advance

It cant record continuously until the battery is dead... but the files will be 2GB long... so it will make several of this....

example... VID001... then VID002... then VID003 etc... with 2GB each file.... as long as you have space and battery

Thanks but how many minutes or hours worth of video can fit on the 60GB hard drive?

That depends on the quality and resolution of your settings....

I found out while recording TV shows at VGA (640x480 pixels) and quality of 2000 kbps... the videos are:

Around 1GB per hour.... so it should be something like 54 hours on your HD (not 60 because of the format space)

If you record at 1500 kbps then you should be able to get like 75 hours.... (since it will be like 700 MB per hour)

You should record samples so you can familiarize with the numbers and the video results

Perfect, thank you.

On another note, is there a 12v charging device available so that I can power the AV500 whilst in the car?
