Gold and Silver Extended Warranty

Hi There,

Has anybody purchased the extended warranty from Archos? After having the PCB replaced by Archos (under warranty) I thought it would be a good idea to extend the warranty for another 2 years for approx £68 on the Archos web-site. As I went through the check-out there were only 2 options for postage - TNT - £14(!!) or something else £28(!!!) are they raving mad?? They want to charge me £15 to deliver a piece a of paper which they could email to me for free!

Also I notice PIXMANIA.co.uk were selling the gold warranty for £38, but has been out of stock for the last few weeks. Does anyone know where I can get an extended warranty but not have to pay an extortionate price to have it delivered?

Apparently I only have 3 days left to activate my warranty, so it doesn't look like I'll be making the purchase and will have to keep my fingers crossed I have no more problems with it.

send them a email asking why they are charging delivery, it does seem strange. if your in the uk you could also ring the support number, search the board and this will appear.

Cheers Roy, I phoned Tech Support and he laughed when I told him. He gave me an email address to contact - the e-commerce team, waiting for them to reply.

lol, i thought that would be the case, its obviously an error that archos needs to fix on thier website, you cant charge someone best part of £15 for a piece of paper that will probo be a email or just added to your account. hopefully they will get back to you soon, if they dont reply email them again until you get a response.

I received a reply from the clowns at Archos "e-commerce@archos.com" :

"Dear sir,

Our extended warranty is included in a box, not a piece of paper. It is sent by TNT, we cannot send it by postal way.

Best regards"

They have obviously lost the plot (and a sale) if they think it's fair to charge £15 for delivering a piece of paper, whoops, nearly forgot - and a box...
