Compare Archos 5 with 605 ??

Hi,

I have been away for a while and missed a lot of the traffic here.

I'm searching the forums for a technical and/or usability comparison between the Archos 5 and the Archos 605 wifi.
Thus far the search results always come up with hundreds of topics.

Can someone please refer me to a good comparison topic, web page, or something of a sort ?

If you do not know of such, and you own both the Archos 5 and the 605 - can you start a comparison topic with your input first ?

vs the 605 the 5 has

bigger hard drive, now up to 250gb
faster wi-fi with new processor
sexier look with black surround andno buttons onthe front
sleeker touch screen interface, although the same functionality
web browser plug in as standard
the faster processor alows faster flash games and sites to work properly, although a lot of the tv streaming sites e.g. hulu still don't work

the dvr doesn't act as a pass-through but does have hdmi out
it will eventually play 720 resolution but the plug in isn't available yet
i currently get an audio lag on the dvr

the add ons are similar to the 605 but the tv snap on looks exciting, if it ever becomes available

still quite buggy but overall better than the 605. some have reported qc issues but this has never been a strong point for Archos

I remember when I had my 605 the audio was not the best it just was a bit fuzzy but the 5 has really cleared that up.

Got a few more specific questions:

Is there anything new with the regional and language support, keyboard ?
e.g. can you browse while your Archos is set to English, and type in non-latin letters - e.g. hebrew/arabic ?

Errr... does the browser show scroll bars or do you still need to push the page up/down ?
If no scroll, is the push up/down smoother ?

Does it support ad hoc networking ?

How's the battery life ?

Have the video support improved (quarter pixel, wmv formats, dimension limitations, etc) ?

And lastly - do any of the Archos 605 hardware work with the Archos 5 ? (USB cable, DVR, etc ?)

The only two things I can answer is..... no scroll bar on web pages which sucks, you have to just flick the page up with your finger or stylus. It seems smooth to me, but I didn't use my 605 much at all for web surfing and don't use my 5 much either for that. The USB cable will work of course, but none of the accessories, including the DVR Station will work with the 5.

With no HD at home it seems that the reasons for me to upgrade are slicker wrap+UI and somewhat better performance.
The rest audio quality and storage size don't matter that much.
So, I'll wait it out.

Oh, I was wrong about the USB, it will not work with the 5. The ports on the bottom are totally different, sorry I was thinking of a regular USB to attach a dock, not the proprietary one. My apologies.

I hate it when manufacturers do that...
This is also stupid since they get less people to buy the product. I just don't get it.
