Car Stereo Adapter for 98 Navigator

I want to remove the 6 disc CD changer in my middle console, because it skips all of the time. What connection can I use in order to play my Archos? I have the cassette adapter and I'm tired of it flipping over when it gets hot. I heard the FM transmitters are pretty weak and I would hope that a connection through the port that my CD play uses would produce better sound. I want something that I can plug the connection to(either male or female) and plug the other end into the headphone jack and play my music. The connection has about 8 wires connected to a black connector with 10 pins.
