Flash 9 or Qtopia?
Flash 9 or Qtopia?
Im still trying to decide whether or not I want to upgrade. Flash 9 support would be nice, but people have been saying a lot of sites still don't work. The question is....is it worth waiting for the Qtopia second release...and now that flash 9 is out are people still going to work on it for us hopefuls?

Re: Flash 9 or Qtopia?
The flash9 is a bad joke, it is about one image every three seconds. I'd rather wait for a new openPMA release...
openAOS
Archos's flash 9 is just a lure! I'd never upgrade.
I have not run into any bugs with my archos, and I could do without flash 9.
I have not used my archos for internet browsing for ages. it is simply too slow and too clunky, there is no point. I will only use it on occasion for checking my email if I am stranded somewhere and in need of it for some reason. It has actually got me out of a couple binds where i needed some info from my email on the spot, and no public computers were around.
Also after seeing that screenshot of whats to come for us in qtopia -- there is absolutely NO WAY i'd ever upgrade.

If you want either of the new plugins you will need to upgrade to the new firmware but other than that I really dont see the benifit. It sounds a lot like a first release of a new software - buggy. I presume there will be some newer firmwares to fix up the issues, but at the moment you are probably better off sticking with what you have.
I voted No because..
.....because I stll can't see streaming on sites like Hulu, NBC or even CNet.
At this point it is very disappointing. Archos should offer a little more versatility with adding and removing certain features, as well as allowing 3rd party upgrades.
Does anyone know of a fix for the Flash 9 upgrade failure?
Archos dropped the ball on this one.

some websites don't work because the archos doesn't have javaknaik94 wrote:I say no because, from what I know/heard flash nine isn't really flash nine. There are still some popular sites that don't work. Also, I heard the openpma team is going to release a new image.

Never mind the hacking side of things, thats not up to much anyway at the moment (no offence hackers; Im not saying you wont release something fantastic in the future!) but my 605 is working perfectly on 1.7.13 and I am experiencing none of the bugs that others on 1.8.x and above have mentioned. For instance 2.0.x now does not allow you you to dock the 605 and use it when the USB cable is attached to the dock, I mean, wtf is that about? For me, Ill be sticking to 1.7.13 until a stable and relatively show-stopper free build of the 2.x firmware is released.
You referring to me? The way I see it, my device works perfectly on 1.7.13, and I have seen a lot of people have issues with 1.8.x and above, and seen as how I dont experience any of the issues they report, and I also dont experience any other issues, Im not going to bring potential trouble on myself just for the sake of running the firmware with the biggest numbers.mx344 wrote:wow, nver heard that one before, your staying back on the FW becuase of "Glitches",ur not doing it for the hack...smart...but i have had no issues with
the latest FW 2.1.04...
There is no features of any of the newer firmwares that I want and that would make my upgrade. Maybe if something of interest becomes available then I might reconsider, or if I decide to get the GPS (which I probably wont), but for the moment Im sticking to 1.7.13. Its not even to do with the fact that its the last hackable firmware; its just that it happens to be the last firmware I upgraded to!
