So since today is the 22nd of April i went to visit Archos' site and found out that there were no updates. So what should we expect to really know today?

Can you blame him for being impatient, Charbox has built up the hype by telling us about him meeting with Archos and then after meeting with them, telling us to wait until the 22nd and doesn't give us any info on all the questions raised.

For myself, I'm more interested in hearing specific responses to our questions rather than just a general press release which is unlikely to be specific or detailed.

Overall, I think everyone on this forum has been incredibly patent with Charbox and I think it's time for us to hear back from him.

There's not even anything on the ARCHOS website stating that there will be any sort of announcement today, even in the Press Releases section !!

Apart from Charbax, what evidence is there that there is any sort of announcement due today, or tomorrow ??

Is this a belated April Fool !!

I got this press release last week:

Today's only Tuesday, though.

According to ECSW he said that the archos support line told him that today they shouyld be releasing some new updates and plugin for the gen 5 units. . I hope this whole conference thing is not yet another hoax by archos to keep us 'hoping' for a better future for our product.

Good lord man, you realise you started this thread at 5.48 in the morning French time...?

What did you expect? Theyre not Santa Claus, with updates waiting for you when you wake up

I imagine that nothing will be announced until later on. Ecsw, do not expect anything at a discount price. I would imagine that their press conference today will revolve around the release of their Gen6 products. Gen5 users will do well if we get a Flash update and possibly the RealPlayer plugin. Beyond that I wouldnt be holding my breath... I do hope I am pleasently surprised tho!!!

This maybe not related but in Hong Kong some users have recently received a plugin to play RMVB files on the Archos.

obviously it's speculation from this (quite poorly) translated text but it definitely sounds like a 3g enabled pmp is gonna make an appearance today

also tonight's demo is at 6pm CET time which is 7PM GMT

I am going to be very upset if the announcement is of a 606 model coming out within a month or two because that means 605 owners are hosed and will be stuck with an incomplete device.

They are editing the site right now 15.18GMT, there's a notice saying:

"The site is Being modified at the moment. We are sorry for any inconvenience."

Does the capitalization of "Being" signify that the next release will be labeled the 666 instead of 606 and it will be so good that it will take over the world leaving us poor humans to nothing but to worship it's image?

(or am i reading too much into all this?)
