bookmark widget

is there anyone who knows of a way to make a widget that could hold bookmarks? mine have been cleared more than once and it is a pain to type some of them in

Yes a widget that can be done, but is of no use because they would also get cleared when clearing the temp and cache.
The best way i know of would be to make a small html and xml with the bookmarks on it on your normal pc and copy that html and xml to your archos. Then you only have to bookmark the local html file on your archos and you are set.
The downsite of this is that you cannot edit your bookmarks on the archos.

If there are some more people who want this I can make it.

My desktop web browser (opera) has an option to export bookmarks as an html file, I presume other browsers have the same.

You can then store this file somewhere on your archos then browse to it with the file browser which will open it in opera. All the bookmarks then appear as links on the page. If you want a different set of bookmarks from your main ones you can just store them in a subfolder and then export just that folder.

This also works in Firefox, just export your pc's bookmarks to an HTML file then copy it to the Archos. Click on the html file on the Archos and it opens a window in the browser, then save this to you Archos favourites. You then have all your favourites complete bookmark listing. Saves all the reloading when you have to rest the Archos.

Is this also true for mms:// bookmarks? Are they clickable in the exported html file?

I normally use Google bookmarks, that way I don't have to worry about them getting cleared from my 605. The only problem is that mms:// link don't work with Google bookmarks. Any workaround for this? Would really be very nice.

I can succesfully add mms links as favourites in opera, but it does not export them in the html file.

It is very easy to add them to the file manually. Open the html file with a text editor, notepad for instance and copy and paste an already existing bookmark line, then just change the URL and name to your mms address and station name. This will then be clickable on your archos.

I tried to post you an example here but unfortunately the forum software swallows the code.

Thanks sensimilla. I just actually found out that Google Bookmarks also has an "export to HTML" feature, so I just exported and then edited the file and added my mms links.
