The last 3 albums I bought were Frank Sinatra, Mudhoney and Gemma Hayes, so as you can see I have a rather eclectic taste in music, and my mood can greatly vary!

I am an "old school" fan. Currently I am completely mesmerized by the best bluesrock-band that nobody (outside the USA) has heard of: Gov't Mule - especially their live-albums are absolutely awesome.
Then of course it is Nick Cave, Ben Harper, Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Old Masters: Cream, Allman Brothers, Johnny Cash and Jimi Hendrix who never die.
"Newcomers" include Magnolia Elecric Co, 16 Horsepower, Tindersticks.

From AllMusic.com:

Coldplay - Viva la Vida
June 6th, 2008 | 6:30 pm |

When Coldplay sampled Kraftwerk on their third album X&Y, it was a signifier for the British band, telegraphing their classicist good taste while signaling how they favor the eternally hip to the truly adventurous; it was stylish window-dressing for soft arena rock. Hiring Brian Eno to produce the bulk of their fourth album Viva la Vida is another matter entirely. Eno pushes the band, not necessarily to experiment but rather to focus and refine, to not leave their comfort zone but find some tremulous discomfort within it. In his hands, this most staid of bands to shake things up, albeit politely, but such good manners are inherent in Coldplay's DNA; they remain courteous even when they experiment.

Some good names.
I forgot to mention Satriani.
I have a few that would have my metal cred smashed. Kate Bush and Nick Kershaw ("There's a tree by a river........" sorry started singing again)

I am curious to find what age group people are and what they are listening to. This may be a silly thing but I can be somewhat silly.

Start the ball off. I'm 26

Hey - that's pretty good! Looping, effects, etc...nice job bringing the violin into the 21st century! ;) We have very similar tastes in music - about half your list is also on my 605.
