What is the difference between the 2 dvr stations?

Do you really need all of the extra components in the dvr station?

The big DVR station is best to stay next to your TV all the time, so you don't have to reconnect cables every time you change from output to input, so you get Component and SPDIF if your home theatre system supports that, and you also have built-in usb2-host and usb-slave ports, so you can have 1 Terrabyte connected threough a usb-hub directly as well as you can have your Dish or Canal+ DVR connected with usb to the dock, so you just need to put your Archos and hit the transfer button on your DVR remote to get all the recordings over.

Yes the DVR station does what the Docking Station and the DVR travel adapter do combined.

Does the DVR station come with a power cable to charge your Archos 504 with? I saw one site's product description say you can charge with the DVR station - but I've seen no pictures of an included AC adapter.

Also, I was curious if the old AV420 travel cable set would work with the Archos 504/604? It was just a composite (white, yellow, red) cable on one end and a headphone-like jack on the other. It allowed you to connect to a TV's input or output on the go, without having to bring a dock along.

The mini-jack to composite cable is the same if you just need tv-out.

I think that the docking station and the DVR station come with their AC adapter. I think that the DVR travel adapter also can connect the ac adapter but I am not sure if that one comes with it.

I am not sure if the old ac adapter works on this generation.

Hey, thanks for the answer. I'll probably purchase the big DVR station in the next couple of days anyway, but would like to know if I'll still need an AC adapter to charge the device.

According to the review of the DVR Station at http://www.archoslounge.net/archosartic ... ticle=6195 , it does come with the AC adapter. As well as it seems to come with a whole bunch of cables, even component and spdif cables might be included.

The DVR Station comes with an AC Adapter and a lot of cables. I can confirm because I bought one. Also it includes a remote control wich is very nice compared to the remote control of the AV500. I can make some pics if someones interested.

Thanks a lot for the info! The review that Charbax quoted was the first that showed an AC adapter (and since I can't speak French, I assume mentioned it).

I'm looking forward to buying it, but it seems most of the websites I'm shopping at don't have it in stock yet.
