While its sunny i cant operate my archos..any tips ?

Have you tried adjusting your Display settings? Press the Menu icon, select Settings, then Display, and increase your LCD Backlight to 2. You can also increase Brightness/Contrast.

Its an unfortunate downside of LCD screens Im afraid. You can try Archos6054GB's advise, but to be honest Matelots smartass comment probably is your best solution on a sunny day.

what kind of creen protector do you have? most clear protectors make the problem worse boxwave makes a great "real" anti-glare screen protector for the 604 that fits the 605, makes a big difference, before I could hardly see in outdoor light now, with the shade of my body I can see pretty good.

i was using mine today and thought the same thing, this on its own has now put me off the gps unit as it would probo be unusable when its a bright sunny day.

It's a standard 605, so no. Perhaps someone can recommend some anti-glare film?

The other suggestion is a case that has a flap the goes over the screen (like my i-nique). You can the use the flap as a screen shade.

i try and make a suitble suggestion, i even make an example and all i get is abuse. obviously anyone with inteligence would realise that i was not suggesting that he should use cardboard, but it was to demonstraight my suggestion and at the time i had some cardboard near my desk.
