605 wifi refuses to surf! ANYONE?

What kind of router are you using. I used a sweex and it also refused to connect until I took of encryption and security measures. It connects fine now on encrypted wep. It seems some routers are just not compatible. It may be worth a try to remove all security measures and see it if it connect. If it does then change the router.

I have a linksys router and for my Archos to connect reliably I had to enable "broadcast signal" but I was able to keep my full encryption turned on.

So now, people in the neighbourhood can see my router now but they still have to get by the password and encryption.

Yes Archos does work with encryption and security enabled but it seems not on some routers. My router id is hidden but I still have an encryption key so its fairly secure. I think its just an incompatablity problem with archos and some routers. Try a search on your type of router in the forums and see what comes up. Best of luck.
