ARchos 97b frozen and pc won't recognize device driver

Archos support have been no help - and if I can-t get it started now i might as well dump it. Have downloaded software to flash device from ARchos site. But device driver is not recognised. Even though it says installed successfully. MTP driver not found.
Am following these instructions
