10b - having trouble getting gapps installed

Post by jh3141 »

Trying to get a working google apps install on my 10b. I've started by installing this firmware:

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/ ... oot-kasty/

This has installed an app called "arctools" that is supposed to be able to install the google apps according to the instructions there, but unfortunately the option for doing it isn't on the list of downloads (I guess it's been removed because it's too old?).

I then tried the old fashioned way, downloading an update.zip file for them, from here:

http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/Google_Apps

I downloaded the most recent MDPI Froyo version, and put it on an sd card. Using "arctools" I persuaded the device to boot into recovery mode, but here I got stuck... I could select the "install update from sd card" option on the menu, but couldn't figure out how to activate it. When I've used recovery on my phone, I had to use the home button to select menu items, but there is no home button on this tablet...

Any suggestions how to proceed from here?
