cobalt 80 sound issues

recently had some sound playback problems on my cobalt 80
the sound almost completely disappears - but if i move the headphone jack slightly until it's approx
2mm out of the socket the playback sound is restored.

is this a typical problem - and is it a simple fix or does it require soldering or something more complicated?
