Yep, it's official. The Gamepad has a lousy battery.

All reviewers say they are getting around 2-3 hours gameplay or movie watching.

It's rated at 3000mAh , but I'm guessing it really is around 2000mAh.

So.................................... Let's put a bigger one in there !!!!!

I put in a TRUE 4700mAh Li-Po.








Battery life :
Playing : Android Games and N64 Emulation constantly
Screen brightness : Around 85%
Volume : 50%
Wi-Fi : Off

Before mod --- 2 1/2 - 3 hours
After mod --- 7 hours

This was with the first initial charge. With a full discharge and re-charge it could be higher.

After a couple full discharge/charge cycles I am up to 7 hours !

Well as mentioned in the build thread they don't make them anymore.

I'm trying to find a similar size/capacity battery. I linked to one in the build thread that is close.

Now what we're waiting is for you to try a different battery which we can actually buy today. Once you get that done, I'll go for the mod rightaway!

Any news on compatible batteries for sale?

And what about charging? I accidentaly broke the official DC adapter and found only one of all my DC adapters correctly charges the Game Pad (slower, though). Haven't been able to find one which can charge it. What happens with this once you change the battery to the higher capacity one?

In the build link I link to a 4250mAh battery that will work just fine. I found a 5000mAh that will fit but I have to buy 200 or more. I don't think 200 people will want to do the mod, so it's probably not worth it for me to invest thousands of dollars to buy 200. I'll keep looking though.

The new battery works just like the old battery as regards charging. Stock charger works, USB charging works albeit at a much longer rate. But as you noticed other brand wall chargers don't work properly for some reason.

Doesn't the battery you linked as an alternative exceed the width and length (as well as thickness but you said that's fine) of the GamePad stock's one?

That doesn't matter. It will fit.

Pleas recommend us some battery, avalaible in Europe, if it is possible in UK, with other europian countries delivery possibility.

Becuse delivery, here is $100, for this $15 item, it is sick.

I'm looking for a higher capacity battery with dimensions that are as close to the gamepads battery as possible.

I ended up grabbing the 4250Mah via a link that was in the instructions that Hailrazer currently has up and it does I fact, FIT.....but it puts a certain amount of strain/pressure on the back of the display. I can hardly tap the bottom middle of the screen and I'll get a ripple effect from it.

I'm also looking for an extra battery controller for it as well, I ended up damaging mine to the point that the part where the wires connect to it is slightly bowed. it does still work, but I want one to replace it partly because of paranoia. (....I ended up trying out the 5000Mah battery first before checking the dimensions, that was my own stupidity alone)
