My archos almost caught on fire health hazard warning

Anyone thinking of getting a archos game pad please do not mine almost melted I left the device it crashed when I saw it the back was so hot you could fry a egg on it.I have children and they have a play with it now and then if it caught fire I will sew them.Please take this as a warning I have emailed archos they keep ignoring my emails because I asked for a refund how this thing passed FCC is beyond me.Please head over to archos forums and check the threads and see for your selfs its not only me who this has happened to.Archos should recall the device this is a health hazard if you know anyone wanting to buy this device please warn them before someone gets seriously hurt.

I did but they ignore my request for a refund I am simply telling people the truth and my expireance.

Maybe there is something wrong with yours that it overheats, I don't see others posting overheating issues in here. I don't think that the Rockchip RK3066 has much overheating. It can happen that a device has a defect and overheats, maybe a shortcut defect on the motherboard or somewhere near the battery. About 5% defects is normal for the whole industry, regardless of brands. Normal quality assurance processes at factories can't always detect the types of defects that may not manifest themselves too obviously at initial testing.

It's funny how the other thread reported by another user with the same problem just got deleted? How do you explain this? I waseng the only one another user clearly stated the same symptoms as mine heavy overheating frozen screen back of device extremely hot like smoking hot.

Actually that was my fault. I was trying to delete a single post that had some... choice words that shouldn't be on the forum in it, and somehow it deleted the whole thread.

Well that was proof that someone else too had the same problem I have too so ARCHOS can acknowledge the problem I am not making it up it went super hot on the back cover screen went fuzzy and frozen I was glad I got to my ARCHOS when I did ARCHOS have not aknoleged my email to request a RMA.

I'm not denying you have the prob. I'm just saying it's normal for 5% of stock to be defective to some extent. That is the same with all brands. If Archos sells 10 thousand Gamepads, 5% of 10 thousand means there may be 500 people out there unlucky enough to get one that either crashes and doesn't boot (can be bad battery, bad battery connection, failed motherboard, etc), overheats for some reason (can be battery connection related, can be motherboard related, etc), some with defective LCD somewhat (not sub-3 dead pixels, other defects such as blinking, bad screen connection, screen not turning on etc).. So yea, for sure, quite normally you will have 5% defective units, the thing for you unlucky people is that you have to send it to Archos and they give you a replacement for free. The only prob with Archos on that is Archos is a small company, Archos does not have Archos stores all over the world in every city, so you may not be able to just walk into your local store to have it instantly replaced, with Archos you usually have to contact their returns department, get the necessary codes confirmation from them, put your Archos in a package, send it to Archos repair center in your country, and wait some days to over 1-2 weeks for the fixed one to come back to you. Sure that kind of sounds crappy but consider there probably then are 9500 people who are fully satisfied with a fully perfectly working Archos Gamepad for each 10k Archos sells worldwide.

Archos have still not got back to me regarding my request for a rma to return the device this is not good customer service let it be a warning to others.

I rather email they responded to my emails before when I asked for a refund they just ignored all my emails and said they don't understand what is that suppose to mean? I have all emails saved it is the worst customer service I have ever expireance a and a huge warning to others if they do contact me I will post response here by the way I am located in the uk.

Jutley not saying that this is the case but arches are a European company, a lot of the UK at least shut down between Christmas and new year. I would guess that you will hear something from them by Friday this week assuming that the support staff are back on the 2nd like much of the UK.
If it is any consolation i emailed them regarding an issue with Skype on my cobalt and i have not heard from them either, which in my opinion adds weight to the not in the office theory.

Ok i have had a reply finally from archos and have been told to contact the technical department and they will determine if its faulty or not and will do the necesary.

Since this thread got deleted and it showed i was not alone who had this overheating problem if the original poster of that thread can comment here archos told me i was the only one who has complained about overheating but the other thread got deleted which was proof that i was not the only one.

Still no reply from the technical department after being told i need to register my device online all i want to do is have the device returned now and a refund.
